Come and play five exciting new games from the 2024–25 VicScreen Originate Games cohort.
ACMI and VicScreen are teaming up for this special Works-in-Progress Night, showcasing five games currently in development via the VicScreen Originate Games initiative.
Originate Games supports the development of original early-stage concepts from Victorian game developers, with a focus on new voices and new projects. First hear from the creators of the games, then enjoy the opportunity to playtest the works and provide real-time feedback to the creators.
ACMI is a wheelchair accessible space and there are accessible amenities at our venue. Learn more

Untitled (Ghoulish)
Ghoulish will be presenting their first game (a story-rich, horror mystery involving conversation, deduction, and environmental exploration) with a title and more details to be announced here soon.
Ghoulish is a brand spankin’ new indie studio based in Naarm/Melbourne. The Ghoulish team is made up of developers who worked on games including Stray Gods, Moving Out 1 & 2, No Way Home, Letters To Arralla, Wood & Weather, The Dungeon Experience, Draculesti, and more!
This project is currently in pre-production phase.

Brine Pool (Quinn Franks)
A surreal and comedic narrative video, Brine Pool follows a cast of characters who allow their bizarre delusions to come to the surface. As a player, you are incited to lean into the character’s delusions, all while being investigated by a covert and cultish organisation called the Brine Agency. This game begs the question: is it really so bad to be pickled in brine if it means you can live out your delusions for all of eternity?
Quinn Franks is Narrm/ Melbourne based animator and game developer interested in using new technologies for film and interactive media to develop surreal character driven work. His practice often draws upon themes of isolation, unreality and interpersonal tensions through a combination of new media, bizarre imagery and unhinged characters.
This project is in the Early Development phase.

Dawn Chorus (Cecile Richard)
Told through highly stylised interlinked and hyperlinked stories, Dawn Chorus is experimental sci-fi interactive fiction game about Melbourne: its past and its future and the people who inhabit it.
Cecile Richard is an award-winning graphic designer and game maker based in Melbourne/Narrm who makes cool things on the computer.
This project is in the final development phase.

REAPRIEVE (The 10pm Club)
An offbeat satire of our current work culture with a supernatural twist, REAPRIEVE explores themes of exploitation, purpose, and how despite death, people refuse to be forgotten and still live on in our memories and habits. An existential adventure game, in REAPRIEVE you must reap a soul’s desires in record time or suffer a deadly cost: Employee-of-the-Year!
The 10pm Club is a Naarm-based game studio, keeping you company at 10pm with our dreams. The 10pm Club is comprised of Althea Francisco (Creative Director & Narrative Designer), Helen Nguyen (Art Director & Lead 2D Artist), Aw Myat Khin (Lead 3D & Technical Artist), Harvey Dang (Lead Programmer) and Luke Kemp (Composer & Writer).
This project is nearing the end of the Pre Production phase.
