Join our panel of pop culture aficionados, as they discuss the phenomenon of fandom, including the mainstreaming of fan culture, the popularity and activism of cosplay and its convergence with fashion.

Liam Burke
Liam Burke is the Discipline Leader and an Associate Professor in Screen Studies at Swinburne University of Technology. He has published widely on comic books, superheroes, and fan culture. He was a chief investigator of the Australian Research Council funded project Superheroes with ACMI for which he co-developed Cleverman: The Exhibition, the VR experience Superheroes: Realities Collide, and the award-winning documentary film Superheroes & Me.
Cienan Muir
Cienan Muir is a Yorta Yorta/Ngarrindjeri man who grew up in Naarm and along the Dungulla River. Director of the Australian chapter of Indigenous Comic Con and Founder of the Indiginerd pop culture platform, Cienan is passionate about Aboriginal representation in media such as film, videogames and comic books.
Heidi Brooks
For the past 11 years, Heidi (A.K.A HeidzDee) has been making costumes and competing in several competitions at Pop Culture Conventions in both in Australia and New Zealand. Having completed formal training in costuming, Heidi has worked for The Australian Ballet, Hamilton and now works full time on Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
Naja Later
Dr Naja Later is an academic tutor at Swinburne. Their research looks at the relationship between pop culture and social issues, with a focus on superheroes, monsters, and comic books.
